5.2.10 Sunday Funday!!! Oakland Beach...Part 2!

Rye folks were going to go for a swim. My plan was to swing by and say hello but we all know that was never going to happen! There was a part of me that said....GET IN ALREADY!!! So I did!

No reds in sight!!!

No cliff diving today!

When I arrived I met two guys I hadn't met yet...Rico and Michael, both triathletes. Michael turned to me and said, "You aren't wearing a wetsuit? The water is freezing!" My response. "You're lucky I'm wearing a suit!" I think he was completely and utterly petrified of me! Nothing new there!

Michael in the blue cap and John in the yellow cap. Both triathletes.

John in the yellow cap and Eugene in the white cap. Both triathletes.

Richard (right, open water swimmer) and Eugene (left).

5.2.10 Sunday Funday!!! Part 1....Lake Lilinonah!

What a great day!! Weather held up very well for some fun swims outside. Started off at Lake Lilinonah. I met Jim at 9:45am to get in a 2+ hour swim at the Lake. The water was between 55-58 degrees while the air temp was in the 60's heading up to high 70's, low 80's. There was no wind which was great. I decided today was going to be a fun swim. I brought my underwater camera to take photos of the route. The houses are spectacular along the way. If I had a million dollars....it wouldn't buy me much in this neighborhood :)

This is Jim taking off on the swim. We start by turning right...we NEVER turn left...unless we are swimming without Jim, then we turn left to rebel!!! Once we turn right we just head straight out. It really is beautiful especially with such a great day. We just have to be careful of the boaters.

Some views along the way....

Brown house: Jim's favorite house! White House: My favorite house! Stairs: What a million $$ could buy me!

On our way back home! Bridge in the background, caution in the foreground! Too bad nobody can even see this seeing as it's 3 inches out of the water!

YEAH...almost done!!! Chilly, yet happy as a clam!

Final swim was 2 hours 5 minutes of actual swimming (Jim is quite anal in his recordings) and 2 hours and 30 minutes of wet time. Very excited to stay in that long and not be cold at the end. I do have to admit my thumbs and butt were cold...funny, that's where I have the most padding!!!

Thought the day was done....but not yet.....
